There's something quietly beautiful about receiving a letter in the mail.

About Us

I grew up in Virginia in a family of five with my parents, my brother, and my sister, and all of us stayed here, building our lives around the same familiar places and the same sense of home. Losing my sister changed everything. She wasn't just my sibling; she was a piece of who I am and watching the way she loved her nieces and nephews made that loss even heavier.

In the months after she passed, I found myself searching for connection in a world that feels more disconnected every year, something I see every day as a teacher. A friend had begun sending me a handwritten letter every single week. Those letters became a lifeline. They brought comfort on days when nothing else could, and they reminded me how powerful it is when someone simply shows up for you.

That experience is what led me to create The Jamie Effect. It has become something my children and I work on together, each of us finding our own way to honor her and to reach people who may feel alone. As a family we want to bring back the simple, human act of connecting through words that can be held, kept, and felt.

                                                                                 With love,
                                                                                  Renee
